Boitumelo belongs to a global community of postgraduate students at the World Maritime University, founded by a specialized agency of the United Nations. Boitumelo is specializing in Maritime Law and Policy and is fully committed to the University’s aim to facilitate safe, efficient shipping on clean oceans. She commends her university for using Turnitin to ensure academic integrity and move toward environmentally-friendly online grading.

Instructors use Turnitin to check all student assignments for proper citation and to prevent plagiarism. Some professors also take advantage of the online grading and feedback features. She says the feedback she has received has improved her writing and helped her to master a new referencing style (APA in this case). Feedback is linked to specific reference points in each assignment and easy to see, which Boitumelo says makes it easier to fix any issues. She says that Turnitin is helping students learn how to analyze and critique at a master’s level:
